The
SenTAG concept is simple
Each bather wears a wristband that
monitors the ‘status’ of the individual
by analysing their relative motion and depth. Wristbands
continually consider the pattern of behaviour / position
and produce wireless ‘alerts’ if the wearer
is determined as being outside of set limits. Before
this occurs the wearer is prompted to return to a ‘safe
location’ just before the alert it transmitted
by the wristband producing both sound and light indication – if
they respond appropriately the alert is not transmitted. This
greatly reduces ‘false positives’ without
applying ‘higher’ than necessary safety
thresholds. SenTAG uses both radio and in-water
ultrasonic signalling.
The SenTAG system is easy to apply
Signals are analysed by highly developed
hydrophone receivers before qualified ‘alerts’ are
passed on to the rest of the system. For installation
at existing pools a battery powered ‘stand-alone’ receiver
that retransmits signals to the rest of the system can
completely negate the need for complex in-pool installation
and cabling. These can be clipped to existing
pool access steps or to the pool wall. These units
are simply removed from the pooland recharged overnight
every 90 days. SenTAG can also monitor the status
of bathers above the surface, and even whether wristbands
have been removed.
A powerful management tool
Supervisory staff have access to clear,
simple to use management information. This can
include detailed analysis of ‘incidents’,
information showing pool usage patterns, system use
and much more. In short the system is highly flexible
and can be effectively configured for both the smallest
single pool site as well as for the largest multi-site
operator who may want to monitor a large number of sites
centrally.
It works with existing practices
Applying SenTAG is easy. Pool
supervisors can be prompted by dedicated personal pagers
that link directly to the system as well as by other
system elements. The system can also activate
pre-existing pool alert systems (visual /audible) by
using inbuilt integral low voltage terminals. System ‘alerts’ are
intended to prompt supervisors to immediately check
out their area or responsibility or to follow any other
contingency plan if they are not already at pool side.
It can be integrated with locker and access control systems
SenTAG wristbands can incorporate 'stand-alone' passive RFID devices as used in electronic locker and access control technology. Alternatively the wristband can be configured to emulate RFID protocols via their active RF capability.
IIntegration makes sense for many operators. Locker and access control specialists are particularly interested in the approach and SenTAG welcomes technical or commercial enquiries.
Wristbands are capable of providing pool safety cover, access control and locker capability and even on-site tracking. The wristband can even be 'pre-loaded' with cash to facilitate on-site expenditure by the wearer. All via the SenTAG wristband.
Humans are exceptional – once they
recognise an incident is in progress.
SenTAG
alerts provide timely prompting that exploits this ‘event
driven’ superiority.
